Description
Malva is a spreading member of the mallow family that is native to Western Europe and now naturalized throughout Asia and North Africa.
Also known as Common Mallow, High Mallow and Cheeses, the blue flowers of this species are a popular choice of bloom with which to make garlands and posies in observance of May Day. A tincture of the flowers is used to determine alkaline pH. The dried flowers are also added to teas and potpourri for color interest.
